Match Play: Practice Studio
These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of Match Play: Practice Studio on iPhone, iPad, Android and the web ("Match Play" or the "app") and the related Acantivo pages linked from it, including the plans, privacy, refund, and account-deletion pages. By creating an account or using Match Play, you agree to these Terms.
1. Operator And Contact
Match Play is provided under the Acantivo brand ("Acantivo", "we", "our", or "us"). Acantivo is a brand name, not a registered company.

Postal address: Nishi-Shinjuku Mizuma Building 2F, Nishi-Shinjuku 3-3-13,

2. What The App Does
Match Play is a music practice workspace for organizing pieces with score PDFs, reference performances, audio and video recordings of your own playing, metronome and playback-speed tools, annotations, comments, to-dos, cards, and repeatable practice loops, and for sharing pieces with other people. Features may change over time.
3. Accounts
Some app features require an account. The app supports email/password authentication, Google sign-in, and Sign in with Apple. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for activity that occurs under your account.
You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age required in your country, to create an account. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use Match Play only with the consent of a parent or guardian, who accepts these Terms on your behalf.
4. Your Content
You are responsible for the files, recordings, annotations, comments, and other content you upload, import, or create in Match Play. You should only upload or import content you have the right to use.
By uploading or importing any file — including sheet-music PDFs, audio and video recordings, and public-domain or third-party scores you import from external libraries — you represent that you own it or otherwise have all rights necessary to upload it, store it in Match Play, and share it with the collaborators you choose, and that it may lawfully be used and shared in your jurisdiction.
Uploading content to Match Play does not transfer ownership to us. You allow us to store, process, display, and transmit your content as needed to operate the app, sync data across devices, support sharing, and provide the features you use.
Optional ML training. If you turn on ML training in the app's Privacy settings, you also allow us to use your annotation data to train and improve machine-learning models, as described in the Privacy Policy. It is off by default, and you can turn it off at any time.
5. Sharing And Collaboration
If you share a piece with another person, that person may be able to view or edit the shared content depending on the access role you grant. Share only with people you intend to give access to that material.
Content you add to a piece that someone else owns, such as comments or recordings, becomes part of that piece and can be seen by everyone who has access to it. The owner controls the piece, including whether to delete it.
6. Third-Party Services
Match Play works with third-party services, including Google Firebase, Google sign-in, Sign in with Apple, Google Drive, Dropbox, Microsoft OneDrive, YouTube, Google AdMob and AdSense, RevenueCat, the Apple App Store, Google Play, Paddle, and Cloudflare. Your use of those services is subject to their own terms and privacy policies.
7. YouTube Features
Match Play can search YouTube for model or reference performances using YouTube Data API v3 and can play selected videos through YouTube's embedded player.
YouTube content remains hosted by YouTube. Match Play does not download, extract, copy, or rehost YouTube audio or video content. YouTube results and playback are subject to YouTube availability, rights, embedding restrictions, removals, and policy decisions.
Your use of YouTube features is also governed by the YouTube Terms of Service and applicable YouTube API Services Terms.
8. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- use the app in a way that breaks, overloads, or interferes with the service;
- attempt to bypass security, usage limits, or plan restrictions, or misuse our backend services;
- upload content you are not allowed to use;
- download, extract, scrape, or rehost YouTube media through Match Play;
- use a username or display name that impersonates someone else or is offensive;
- submit unlawful, abusive, deceptive, or harmful material through app features;
- use the app in violation of applicable law.
We may suspend or close accounts that seriously or repeatedly break these Terms.
9. Copyright & DMCA
Match Play respects the intellectual-property rights of others and expects users to do the same. Do not upload, import, store, or share any content you do not have the right to use.
Reporting claimed infringement. If you believe content stored or shared through Match Play infringes your copyright, send a written notice to our designated agent that includes all of the following (a valid notice under 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3)):
- your physical or electronic signature;
- identification of the copyrighted work you claim was infringed;
- identification of the material claimed to be infringing, with enough detail for us to locate it (for example, the excerpt or share link and the file);
- your contact information (name, address, telephone, email);
- a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law;
- a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf.
Designated agent. Match Play is operated by Acantivo. Acantivo has registered a DMCA Designated Agent with the U.S. Copyright Office (DMCA Designated Agent Directory registration no. DMCA-1071754). Send copyright infringement notices and counter-notices to the designated agent by email at dmca_matchplay@acantivo.com. The agent's full contact information is on file with, and available from, the U.S. Copyright Office DMCA Designated Agent Directory. You can also report a copyright concern from inside the app (Settings → Report a copyright concern).
Counter-notification. If your content was removed or disabled and you believe that was a mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter-notice to the same agent containing the information required by 17 U.S.C. § 512(g).
Repeat infringers. In appropriate circumstances and at our discretion, we will disable or terminate the accounts of users who are repeat infringers.
10. Privacy
Your use of the app is also governed by the privacy policy available at https://acantivo.com/matchplay/privacy/.
11. Plans, Subscriptions And Billing
Match Play is free to use, with usage limits and ads. Match Play Plus is an optional paid subscription, offered as a monthly or annual auto-renewing plan. Plus raises or removes the free plan's limits — for example on loops, takes and uploads, reference recordings, timeline comments, shared pieces, and the length of each in-app recording — lets you keep listening with the screen off and save recordings to your device, increases cloud storage from 500 MB to 5 GB, and removes ads. The current limits and prices are shown in the app and on the Match Play plans page. A subscription is not required to use the core practice features.
Payment, billing, and renewals are handled by the app store you purchase through (the Apple App Store or Google Play), or, where web purchase is offered, by our web payment provider. Web purchases are sold by Paddle.com Market Ltd as merchant of record. Match Play does not receive or store your full payment card number or bank details.
Auto-renewal. Subscriptions are auto-renewable. Payment is charged to your store account when you confirm the purchase. Unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, the subscription renews automatically, and your account is charged for the next period within 24 hours before the current period ends. The renewal price equals the plan's then-current price for your plan and region.
Managing and cancelling. You can view, manage, or cancel your subscription and turn off auto-renew in your app store account settings (Apple: Settings → your name → Subscriptions; Google Play: Play Store → Subscriptions), or via the "Manage subscription" link in the app. If you subscribed on the web, manage or cancel your subscription through the Paddle customer portal linked from your receipt email. Cancelling stops future renewals; access continues until the end of the period already paid for. No partial-period refund is provided for cancelling mid-period except where required by law or store policy.
Refunds. How a refund is handled depends on where you subscribed. See the Refund Policy for details.
Purchases made in the iOS or Android app. Refunds are handled by the app store under its own policy (Apple or Google). Match Play does not directly process store refunds. Request one through Apple (reportaproblem.apple.com) or Google Play.
Purchases made on the web. Web subscriptions are sold by our payment provider Paddle.com Market Ltd, acting as the merchant of record and seller of record for the transaction. Paddle appears on your bank or card statement and issues your invoice. You may request a refund within 14 days of your initial purchase, for any reason, by contacting Paddle through the link in your receipt email or by emailing support_matchplay@acantivo.com. Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method, normally within 5–10 business days.
Renewal charges are non-refundable. To avoid being charged for a renewal, cancel before the renewal date; you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for. Nothing here limits refunds required by applicable law.
Consumers in the EU, EEA and UK. You have a statutory right to withdraw from a purchase of digital content within 14 days. Web purchases are completed under Paddle's buyer terms, which you accept as part of the transaction and under which you consent to immediate performance and acknowledge that the right of withdrawal is lost once you begin using the subscription. Because Match Play Plus is unlocked straight away, that consent applies from the moment your subscription becomes active. Where such consent has not been given, the statutory right applies in full. Nothing in these Terms limits your mandatory consumer rights.
When a subscription ends. When Plus ends or lapses, your account returns to the free plan. Nothing you created is deleted, and you can continue to view and play it. The free plan's limits apply again to new additions: while you are above a free limit, adding more of that kind (for example another take on a piece that already has the free maximum) is paused, and while your storage usage is above the free limit, uploading, editing, and creating new content is paused until you free up space or resubscribe.
Changes to plans and prices. We may change the free plan's limits, the features included in Plus, and subscription prices. Where required, we and the app stores will notify you in advance and, where applicable, obtain your consent before a changed price takes effect for you.
12. Account Deletion
You can delete your account in the app (Settings → Account & profile → Delete account) or by email, as described on the account deletion page. Deleting your account permanently deletes the account and the pieces you own, including pieces you shared with others, who lose access to them. It cannot be undone.
Deleting your Match Play account does not cancel a paid subscription. Cancel App Store or Google Play subscriptions in your store account settings, and web subscriptions through the Paddle customer portal, before you delete your account; otherwise they continue to renew and bill you.
13. Availability And Changes
We do not guarantee that the app or website will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features and update backend services as the product evolves.
14. Intellectual Property
The app, website, branding, and related materials are owned by or licensed to their respective owners. These Terms do not transfer ownership of any intellectual property to you.
15. Disclaimer
The app is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis to the maximum extent permitted by law. We do not guarantee that the app will be error-free, that every search result or practice tool will meet your expectations, or that the service will meet every practice, educational, audition, or performance need.
16. Limitation Of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the app or website. If liability cannot be excluded, it will be limited to the amount you paid us for the service giving rise to the claim, if any. These limitations do not apply to damage caused by our intentional misconduct or gross negligence, or where applicable law, including consumer protection law, does not allow them.
17. Governing Law And Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan. The Tokyo District Court has exclusive jurisdiction as the court of first instance over any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or Match Play.
If you are a consumer, this choice of law and court does not take away the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, or any right you have under those laws to bring a claim in the courts where you live.
18. Changes To These Terms
We may revise these Terms from time to time. The most current version will remain available at this page with an updated revision date. If we make a material change, we will take reasonable steps to let you know, for example in the app or on this page.
